OEDA does more than you would expect

The title summaries this complete blogpost, the OEDA (oracle exadata deployment assistant) does a lot more than you would expect. Therefor it is pretty important that you should use a recent version every time when fiddling around with virtual machines on the exadata. A simple example I just discovered and did not know about. Database psu patch july 2016: cannot find -lodbcinst

It’s patching time again. So on one of our test systems we gave the july 2016 bundle a go. It’s a simple system, just a plain database 12.1.0.2 with the april bundle applied. No grid infrastructure, no asm, just a plain simple database system. The sequence is the same as always. Unzipping, conflict check, nothing new.
